"That's how I talk " Art that speaks Britney Fraser

We love having a dynamic programme of art  in out Room with a View programme at Dry Water Arts Centre Amble . Each exhibition is viewed not only by those who come to opening events and artist discussions  but by those who come to regular classes . It’s a truly involving way to notice , ponder and share art that is there as part of the curated environment, accessible involving, inviting but never imposing ways of viewing or experiencing. You are welcome to allow yourself to be at home with the art

“  I always see something different and each week I look again at the exhibitions , not as something separate but part of my  whole experinece of being here . Some pieces get to be sort of friends and the  “Wind ya neck in” piece makes me chuckle as it  always makes me think of people and or situations where those words are exactly what I to want to say”

Brtiney’s woven work has been a prompt for many chats about textiles, hieracrchies in art, women’s perceived roles  as artists /makers , unappreciated  skills ,  the nature of creativity , preservation of regional language, collective memories and sense of place .

The girls art group found an absolute connection with Britney’s work in particular enoying how the language is given prominence as something powerful and meaningful  “Its cool - It’s how I talk and its geet funny” . Poppy Hall aged 13 Dry Water Girls’ Art Collective
