All Hail the New Women!! Britney tells it how it is

An involving discussion about art/textiles/ politics/language and gender

Have you ever felt patronised / undervalued /overlooked by the “art world “because you sew, weave, knit. tat,  or prog? As Britney so eloquently stated she does not like paining or drawing but she is an artist.

What about the word craft  does it imply a " medium of cultural expression as powerful and worthy of attention as painting, sculpture, or architecture" or is it something mostly women do and is not really proper art.? This is what the conversation with artists programme is all about….. an exchange , a precious time to listen ,to be heard and we know from feedback how many women are particularly enjoying this approach.

We feel so proud to have had Britney as part of Room with a View. Her energy and commitment to change how we experience , perceive and talk about art from lived experinces and no need to pay tribute to old masters! All hail the new women we say , away with masters and hierarchies time for speaking about art on our own terms and claim art that has meaning and cultural resonance for us .
