The Grand Assembly - Saturday 13th April
The Grand Assembly - Saturday 13th April
7pm to 9pm - Doors opening at 6.30pm
Join The Grand Assembly on a listening expedition that will evoke the places, people and very special musical traditions of North East England. You’ll travel through a vibrant musical landscape with shifting combinations of instruments. Discover the sounds of viola, fiddle, flute, whistles, bouzouki and shruti box, as well as the region’s own border bagpipes. Get lost in lively dance tunes, soulful airs and stately marches, all played with passion and precision. Traditional music is convivial. It brings people together to dance, to sing, and to play. In that spirit we invite you to come together with good company in the warm and welcoming surroundings of Dry Water Arts Centre to enjoy listening together.
The Grand Assembly is: Iain Gelston, (border pipes, bouzouki); Rachael Hales (viola, fiddle) and Trish Winter (wooden flute, whistles and shruti box)
