Word Up

Dry Water Arts have been working at Marine Park Primary and Hadrian Primary (South Tyneside) on a project that delighted in vocabulary.

Children shared their favourite words and even took part in a word election. The popularity of suggested words was tested on the Dry Water Wordometer (patent pending!) carefully calibrated to assess a words deliciousness. The elected words were then made into colourful banners and paraded to " The Word" in South Shields where they were presented to library staff to be displayed and enjoyed by the community.

The children hope that their work will encourage others to think about the richness and enjoyment of words and language and encourage them to visit The Word.

The project was funded by Arts Council England.
