Ebru is a traditional Islamic and Turkish art also known as marbling. It is one of the oldest forms of Turkish art, but exactly where or when it started remains unknown.
The basic technique involves paints that are made to float on the surface of thickened water where they are manipulated into designs using needles/ sticks/ brushes and then transferred onto paper and fabrics.
On this course you will learn how to use traditional Turkish natural pigment paints to create fabulous patterns. The rich and vibrant colours we will be using come from Istanbul to enable an authentic experience.
You will then use your fabulous paper you have created to make a stab bound book using traditional Japanese bookbinding methods.
