The technique of Suminagashi originates from Japanin the12th century . It's name translates to "ink floating", from the terms “sumi” meaning ink and “nagashi” meaning floating. The technique uses only ink and water.
Suminagashi was originally used by Shinto monks as a form of meditation as early as the 12th century.
The patterns that resemble wood grain are made by dipping brushes with sumi ink and a dispersant into the water alternating between the two. You will create a series of papers which you will then turn into a notebook.
Price includes all materials and tea / coffee / cake.
