A New Tradition
Starting 18th November until Christmas
A new Amble tradition inspired by the need to socially distance which brings light, togetherness and celebration to the streets and doorsteps of Amble without having to leave your doorstep or street!
2020 Theme - Myths and Legends
The theme this year is Myths and Legends and we are asking individuals, groups and streets to light up Amble and fill the windows of their homes with illuminated illustrations, installations and lanterns depicting your favourite myths or legends.
We can provide supplies to help you, your friends and family make your own lovely lights, and you could even write your own myth or legend - more about that below.
What’s Involved?
All the details are on this page, but briefly, you can choose to participate as an individual, a group of friends or a whole street.
Sign-up using the form below
Pick up your materials kit from the Dry Water Arts Centre or have them delivered (details on how will be sent to you)
Watch our online workshops with video and downloadable written instructions to help you with ideas
Make your window installation based on Myths and Legends - you can write your own, use the Lindu story (see below) or find another myth or legend
Send us photos of your windows or record an audio describing your story, we will put them online in our gallery and on our digital street map for everyone to enjoy
Walk around Amble on any evening from the 18th November to see all the streets lit up, take photos and send them to us. The more the merrier!
MYTHS & LEGENDS
Storytelling With Malcolm Green
Watch Malcolm, our story teller for the festival, recounting a creation myth from Estonia, called ‘Lindu - Queen Of The Birds’. Also, he has also recorded a quick workshop on how to write your own myth or legend.
